We have taken note of certain statements made by the Moldovan representative in the Pridnestrovian settlement that point to a clear disorientation on the part of the Moldovan official, who to date has in no way demonstrated himself professionally.

As is well known, since his appointment, Valeriu Chiveri has been avoiding contact with the Pridnestrovian side, refusing under contrived pretexts to hold a meeting with the Pridnestrovian political representative. As a cover for his dysfunction within the negotiation process, the Moldovan official has resorted to a convenient option of broadcasting speculative statements through the media.

Meanwhile, the current agenda of the relations between Pridnestrovie and Moldova is filled with practical issues of significant importance to people’s interests and requiring effective solutions through a responsible approach and substantive work. The parameters of a final and comprehensive settlement of the Moldova-Pridnestrovie conflict must be determined exclusively by peaceful political means at the negotiating table. We recall that it is precisely the Moldovan side that for more than six years has been blocking the full-fledged functioning of the international “5+2” negotiation format and certain auxiliary mechanisms. At the same time, in recent time the Moldovan side has failed to put forward any substantive or adequate proposals to address current problems. This points to Chisinau’s deliberate sabotage of any interaction, undermining the efforts not only of Pridnestrovie, but also of a number of international mediators seeking to give a positive impetus to the settlement process.

In the context of fake news about the so-called “reintegration” allegedly chosen by the “majority” of Pridnestrovian citizens, we strongly recommend that Moldovan officials refrain from speaking on behalf of the Pridnestrovian people. Throughout the history of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic, the people have repeatedly and clearly expressed their will in democratic referendums, and this mechanism is the only way to reflect the consolidated opinion of the Pridnestrovian people.
