Vitaly Ignatiev Meets with Deputy Head of the OSCE Mission to Moldova Izabela Sylwia Hartmann

08/27/25

Today, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, a meeting was held between PMR Foreign Minister Vitaly Ignatiev and Deputy Head of the OSCE Mission to Moldova Izabela Hartmann.
During the meeting, the parties exchanged views on the current state of the negotiation process. Vitaly Ignatiev noted the ongoing stagnation in the dialogue, characterized by the Republic of Moldova’s refusal to engage in systematic and substantive interaction with Pridnestrovie, as well as by Chisinau’s unilateral and destructive actions.
In this context, he placed particular emphasis on the decision of the Moldovan authorities to reduce by almost three times the number of polling stations for residents of Pridnestrovie holding Moldovan citizenship in the framework of the upcoming parliamentary elections in the neighboring country.
The Minister expressed his disappointment over the OSCE’s lack of response to this discriminatory decision, recalling that last year’s actions aimed at restricting the access of Pridnestrovian residents to voting on the territory of the Republic of Moldova also failed to receive an adequate reaction.
Foreign Minister called on the OSCE to take note of and assess Moldova’s actions, which run counter to fundamental democratic principles and result in the mass restriction of the inalienable voting rights of Pridnestrovian citizens. He also stressed the importance of close monitoring of the voting process for PMR residents on election day to prevent a recurrence of incidents that could hinder their free expression of will.
As part of the discussion, the parties also addressed other issues, including current aspects of bilateral cooperation.
